December 14 I wrote a poem for the first time in ages. I think i will work with my cousin and make it into a song. but yeah, here's the poem. It's called "Go See About Them."
Dear God,
I have a friend who needs you
The whole that is in her heart only sees you
But she tries to replace you
In a strong attempt to disgrace you
Saying she doesn't need you
God go see about her
There is this little boy down the street
He lives in the little green house that looks off beat
He is in a struggle for peace
But knows only trouble indeed
He doesn't know where to turn
God go see about Him
My family is falling apart
Each feels nothing but their own stalling heart
I look in their eyes and see hate
Everything in life now is a debate
For one after the other, there is a grudge
God go see about them
My friend has an imperfect past
But before you will no secret last
She knows of you
But hypocrisy clones you
She can't seem to grasp your true name
God, go see about her
God please let my prayers be heard
The lives of these lost are not insured
I know your hands will touch
Let my prayers availeth much
In Jesus' name I pray
Amen
July 07 I have certainly calmed down with the blogging. I haven't posted a blog in a good two weeks! Anyway, I HAVE AN ANTHEM! lol. It's this song on Kierra Sheard's CD "This Is Me" Here are the lyrics.
Verse 1 Can somebody tell me what's going on now It seems like there's so much confusion in the streets I heard somebody ask what happens when you die That's when I stepped in and said If you don't know my God You might go to a place that's burning hot Then we got into this big argument That didn't make no sense But it is what it is
I'm just trying to get you to see truth There's no truth in what you do You're simply blind to the fact That I really got your back And I ain't gonna lie to you
Chorus If you think you're living right I'm the one to tell you that you gotta get it right If you think that you gon' make it just cause you so nice I can tell you "no other way" cause It is what it is.
Verse 2 Now we can sit here and talk about this all day long And chances are you would still be wrong You can't tell me nothing about this Trust me, man, you can't get into heaven without this It's like I was born on a pew I know what to do I really don't understand why it's so hard for you I will continue every night to pray But the fact is you gotta be saved
I'm just trying to get you to see truth There's no truth in what you do You're simply blind to the fact That I really got your back And I ain't gonna lie to you
Bridge Don't make yout ime on this earth worthless I just want you to see that you need to be serving I'm not telling you to live like me, I'm just birthing Something in your soul, and trust me. It's worth it.
I love this song. Aside from "Why Me," this is my favorite song on that whole CD. cause I can relate like... word by WORD I can relate! This is my anthem as one of God's adopted children, trying to make it so others can become brothers and sisters in Christ. June 23 I was expecting to be on a six-day fast, but it only turned out being for a few hours. i wrote this earlier. This was why i fasted (though I didn't know at the time)
Forgiveness
Lord I come to you only to ask for forgiveness and mercy as I continue this fast. God I want so much to please you in everything I do, but I continue to fall time and time agani. Please extend to me your mercy again, oh God. Wash me, Lord. Clean me up so I can live as much of a holy lifestyle as I possibly can, because I want to please you, as any adoptedchild would want to do. God I don't drink, I don't smoke, I don't cuss, I don't go clubbin', and I don't listen to secualr music, but none of that even matters, because there are still things that I do do that need to end so that I can grow closer to you, but I can't seem to stop. It's times like this that I am greatful for the mercy you show your poeple, otherwise, I would have, and should have been stoned a long time ago. But you said "No. I will show Nathan mercy, so he can live for me, and show people that I am indeed a merciful and wonerful God." God, words cannot express my grattitude for you being who you are as God. You are kind, merciful, and forgiving. And I didn't even have to offer a sacrifice to earn it. You just gave it, just because. And that's why we call youa merciful God, simply because you are, and I thank you for it. THANK YOU!
I feel like this was like why i fasted, just the whole point for God to show me the real extent of his mercy. i mean it really got me thinking about had Jesus never died. So not long after this was written... I ended my fast. But I'm going to fast again soon, maybe saturday, till after church on Sunday, where my fast was going to end originally. June 20 I was riding in the car with someone, and they were playing some Avant when they came to pick me up. I offered to put in Tye Tribbett's new CD, the first thing they said as that he was too secular... even though they pulled up blasting Avant's newest album... hmm... It really got me thinking about a lot of stuff...
All the time, I encounter people who will say this and say that... but they have their things that they don't want to let go of. And then there are those who seem they CAN'T let go of things... but mostly I meet people who don't feel the NEED to let go of the ungodly things. But it's like... why hold onto it? We are temples of God... we should treat our lives and our bodies as such. We should let go of everything that don't glorify God. All the music we like... if it doesn't glorify God, it's idolatry to listen to it. If it's not glorifying God, then it glorifies something OTHER than God. It could be the artist who made the song, could be a song to get you to glorify yourself, or something else. It could glorify money, sex, material things... but God doesn't get the credit for the song. When God gets the credit "Lord you are..." "Thank you, Lord for..." "Jesus is..." "Jesus you did this... Jesus you did that for me" then that is worship to him. but if the song gives credit to anything but... that is worship to that thing, not God.. Worshipping of idols is idolatry. There. I explained that. But it's not just music. Idolatry is that drunk who refuses to put down the beer bottle. It's that boy who refuses to stop watching pornography. It's that girl who loves her Aaliyah, and her D'Angelou. it's that other one who watches all that TV instead of going to pray. that boy who can't stay off the computer, and the one who would rather talk on the phone, than talk to God. ANYTHING put before God is idolatry! So I ask.... What are we willing to give up for God? Would we be able to give up America's Next Top Model for one season? Would we be able to leave myspace if we had to? What are the things you are having a hard time just letting go of? i think everyone has there things.. Even if it's not extremely obvious... many of US have things that we put more worth to than we should. Try your VERY BEST to put God before ALL things. Even the music you like and the books you read. Don't read books more than you read your bible. You can't be all up in Sisters of the APF and be trying to hide the Word in your heart. The APF will kick the word right out. They conflict WAY too much. I know from EXPERIENCE! Leave it alone. lol. Yo, don't think I am judging or nothing like that. "OH YOU POINTED ME OUT IN YOUR THING!!!!!" No it's not like that. I'm calling what I see. And if you happen to fit the mold, ask God to give you the strength to break the mold (I just had a de javou ). Have you ever heard preachers say that the messages God gives them are not only for the congregation they preach to, but for themselves, also? This is not just for the reader, but the writer as well. June 09 I read something G. Craig Lewis sent me (he has daily words... I read them) that was interesting... but then I read his suggested reading. This scripture pricked my heart and humbled me in SO many ways. THIS is why I'm thankful for the Word of God everyday, because it has th power to show you your whole self and your true self, FOR REAL! it is the entire 3 chapter of 1st John.
1 John 3
| 1Jo 3:1 |
See how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we would be called children of God; and {such} we are. For this reason the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. |
| 1Jo 3:2 |
Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is. |
| 1Jo 3:3 |
And everyone who has this hope {fixed} on Him purifies himself, just as He is pure. |
| 1Jo 3:4 |
Everyone who practices sin also practices lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness. |
| 1Jo 3:5 |
You know that He appeared in order to take away sins; and in Him there is no sin. |
| 1Jo 3:6 |
No one who abides in Him sins; no one who sins has seen Him or knows Him. |
| 1Jo 3:7 |
Little children, make sure no one deceives you; the one who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous; |
| 1Jo 3:8 |
the one who practices sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil. |
| 1Jo 3:9 |
No one who is born of God practices sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. |
| 1Jo 3:10 |
By this the children of God and the children of the devil are obvious: anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor the one who does not love his brother. |
| 1Jo 3:11 |
For this is the message which you have heard from the beginning, that we should love one another; |
| 1Jo 3:12 |
not as Cain, {who} was of the evil one and slew his brother. And for what reason did he slay him? Because his deeds were evil, and his brother's were righteous. |
| 1Jo 3:13 |
Do not be surprised, brethren, if the world hates you. |
| 1Jo 3:14 |
We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love abides in death. |
| 1Jo 3:15 |
Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer; and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him. |
| 1Jo 3:16 |
We know love by this, that He laid down His life for us; and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. |
| 1Jo 3:17 |
But whoever has the world's goods, and sees his brother in need and closes his heart against him, how does the love of God abide in him? |
| 1Jo 3:18 |
Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth. |
| 1Jo 3:19 |
We will know by this that we are of the truth, and will assure our heart before Him |
| 1Jo 3:20 |
in whatever our heart condemns us; for God is greater than our heart and knows all things. |
| 1Jo 3:21 |
Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence before God; |
| 1Jo 3:22 |
and whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do the things that are pleasing in His sight. |
| 1Jo 3:23 |
This is His commandment, that we believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as He commanded us. |
| 1Jo 3:24 |
The one who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. We know by this that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us. |
What has this scripture shown you? i know it showed me lots, that need changing. i now have a goal for my daily life. To be able to say that I don't practice sin, and that i can indeed have confidence in the Lord, much like the elders of my church. Three cheers for the word of God, and it's power to change the lives of those who open themselves to the true words of God.
